April Ross

April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball players to win medals at many Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross Tokyo to win her third gold medal in the next few days. Ross also hopes to get her first Olympic medal. At 39, it could be her final chance to achieve it. Nevertheless, she remains certain of taking top honors. Ross was born on August 22, 1982, at Costa Mesa California. She resided there with her family. Ross played in numerous sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. Apart from playing indoor volleyball, she also ran track and basketball as a pre-collegiate athlete. Although she was a pro when playing indoors, it was clear that her skills were above normal. Based on her biography, she was a middle blocker and an outside hitting volleyball player during her senior year at high school. Thanks to her hard work, she was honored as in 1999 as the Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. Also, she won the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman began the partnership in 2017, However, Ross was a beach scene star for years before. In fact, she won several major championships while playing with two different partners, one of whom is a volleyball icon. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until 2013. Kessy and Ross were strong on the international circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 together. This duo went on to win a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group that could take home the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she retired. They went on to compete for the bronze medal in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics 2016 with Walsh Jennings. Following high school, and for a few several years prior to hitting the sand as a pro Ross was a ball with the Trojans of USC as an collegiate. The time she spent at USC was impressive. As a freshmen in 2000 the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. In 2000, her Trojans also reached the Final Four. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal setback, but she was able to be a second All-American. Through her two final years of participation in the Trojans team, she led the team to win a national championship every year. The achievements of each individual have established her as a volleyball legend. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the best female college player. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross wasn't able to watch her daughter's rise to beach volleyball fame. Ross's mom died from cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. As a result, Ross is still near to her mother who passed away. Margie is a beach lover as well as in everyday life, inspires her.
