Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a poor family of twelve children, who would all grow up together eventually, learned very early how to get out of the difficulties she faced thanks to her incredibly vivid imagination. Songs were being written by her before she was able to read or write. When she was 8, she got the first electric guitar she owned and started singing at a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. She released her debut album during the same year with Gold Band Records, a small independent label. The singer established a name for herself in the local scene while still at high school but she dreamed of performing on a bigger stage. When she graduated from high school in 1964, she swiftly relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host at the time, was in search for a girl to sing on his show. Parton was offered the gig when she was signed in 1967 by RCA Records in 1968 and was a part of with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. Parton left the show nevertheless, in 1974 when her albums on her own like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Parton was a part of the group that split after the end of their association with Wagoner, wrote"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and saw it climb to Number. 1 for the very first time in 1974.
